Early Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. Although it is best to begin treatment after all of the permanent teeth erupt, in some cases, early treatment may be necessary. Early evaluation provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. Prudent intervention guides growth and development, preventing serious problems later.

Early treatment may help prevent the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth, abnormal wear of the teeth and jaw disproportion. Dr. Brad Bauer can also examine your child's bite for the presence of crossbites, underbites, overbites and severe crowding.

At the complimentary consultation, Dr. Brad Bauer will thoroughly examine your child's facial balance and any other orthodontic concerns. He will also perform a thorough TMJ (temporomandibular joint) examination.

Dr. Bauer will then determine if orthodontic treatment is necessary and the best time to initiate it. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, he can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal. If early treatment is necessary, Dr. Bauer will explain what orthodontic treatment is needed, the most suitable approach, and the approximate amount of time needed to give your child the best possible smile.

Dr. Bauer's friendly staff will give you an estimate treatment fees and also check on your insurance benefits if needed.
