Starting in 2009, Bauer Orthodontics began sponsoring Halloween Candy Buybacks to encourage and assist the Howland community in honoring our troops. On a designated evening that closely follows Halloween, we offer to buy back excess Halloween candy at $1 per pound. All of the candy that we collect is then shipped to California as part of Operation Gratitude. The volunteers then put together care packages to send to our U.S. military overseas. We feel grateful to be able to do this for them as a reminder that they have the support of the American people. The event at our office is a fun-filled evening with goodies for the kids and raffles for the parents! We have collected as much as 500 pounds of candy per year!! This is a great cause and the kids who attend have a blast!! They also know they are a part of a bigger picture honoring the ones who help protect their country.
